FOLKESTONE IS AN ART SCHOOL

We can only make this happen with your help! Support our campaign and receive exclusive rewards.

Please help artist Bob and Roberta Smith celebrate that FOLKESTONE IS AN ART SCHOOL. At a time when the value of art education (and creative experience) needs to be boldly restated and defended, we want to showcase the huge fund of knowledge, skills and experience in our town: it’s already an art school.

Please help us make the loudest declaration we possibly can. In advance of the Folkestone Triennial, we need to raise £15,000 to cover the town’s streets and landmarks with Bob and Roberta Smith’s declaration that FOLKESTONE IS AN ART SCHOOL.

We will work with local secondary schools to create their own declarations and run a workshop for public responses. Banners and signs will mark out the breadth of the art school; this isn’t a conventional art school and it isn’t a building, it’s all the buildings and homes where art is happening, all the creative skills of artists and practitioners, all the resources and spaces that together make Folkestone already an art school (and maybe other towns can be too).
